Mansfield And Lamb Civil War Cavalry Saber Sword 1862
For auction is an original early civil war cavalry saber made by the company of mansfield and lamb in 1862! This is a very nice early civil war cavalry saber. The grip retains its 100% original leather wrap although there is a slight crack that runs along one side. The guard has developed a great deep umstard patina. The pommel is inspector marked ggs as is the ricasso on the blade.
The lbade is full length and unbent and unsharpened. It has a great tip that is not broken or rounded. The ricasso is marked us / ggs / 1862 on one side and mansfield and lamb in a circle on the other. The 1 and part of the 8 in 1862 are partially obscured by a bit of old pitting, but clearly the date is 1862. See photos.
There is unfortunately no scabbard with this saber. This is a great opportunity to get an example of a sword made early in the war between the states! $1 to start and no reserve! Godo luck!
